The Secret to Finding out If Lawyers Your Are Considering Are on the Cutting Edge of DUI Defense

Did you know that not all DUI lawyers are the same?

And did you know that the results of your DUI case will almost certainly depend on what DUI lawyer you choose.

Fortunately, you can discover the qualifications of a West Virginia lawyer to defend your case. Just by asking some key questions.

As a DUI lawyer myself, here's what I think you need to ask.

Ask if they attend ongoing professional education in the field of DUI defense (West Virginia attorneys are presently required to obtain 24 hours of continuing legal education every two years - find out how much of that time your attorney has spent learning more about DUI and find out if he or she just gets the bare minimum required hours)

Ask if the attorney has gone through specialized training to better understand breath testing machines

Ask if the attorney has obtained any specialized qualifications related to field sobriety testing - has he or she made the extra effort to obtain official government certifications to administer the tests or to become an instructor for field sobriety testing

Find out if the attorney is a member of any national organizations dedicated to the principles of DUI defense

Ask if the attorney has ever lectured to other attorneys on issues related to DUI defense

Ask to see the attorney’s DUI library or reference materials

Ask if the attorney knows of the latest DUI cases from the state’s highest court (or the courts of any other states for that matter) which have impacted issues of DUI defense.
